Creating Your First Impression

Gaining an audience in the beginning is difficult for many people. You can have the best content out there but you still get little to no views every week. That's because your first impression on a viewer is the one thing that keeps them browsing or leaving your site to find someone else.

When a viewer enters your site, the first impressions on what you have to offer comes from the presentation of your content. Straight content no matter how great it is won't attract a viewer on it's own. You need the icing on the cake. The attention grabber for that moment when the viewer lands on a new site and contemplates whether to leave or stay.

Before deciding how to present your site, think about what the main purpose of your site is. Are you trying to sell a product or share your articles on a particular subject? Your design needs to match that and tell your audience what you can provide for them immediately.

Business: If you are looking to sell a product, a professional site layout is necessary because it grows a viewers trust in you. Not many people are willing to give credit card information online and with many sites, out there to scam customers, you need to dissociate yourself with them.

Sharing your Articles on a Topic: Think about what your site content is about. How can you represent what you have the best? Choosing a layout and design for your site needs to share information with the readers on what they can expect to find on the site.

Spending time to focus on design and presentation is just as important as the quality of your posts. Many views on a website are people who clicked in looking for information and if they don't get instant gratification, they leave. It takes someone who has spent the time needed on presentation and provides for that need that can turn the viewers into a returning audience.
